Leicester MP launches Action Homeless Winter Appeal to help women who have to flee home

Bridge House received a visit from Liz Kendall, Labour MP for Leicester West. Liz met with staff and clients to find out more about the work of Bridge House and how the project supports women and children who have had to flee their homes. Liz’s visit coincides with the launch of Action Homeless’ Winter Appeal 2013-14, which this year focuses on the children at Bridge House. The appeal aims to raise £10,000 so that we can offer a safe and secure place for children who are experiencing homelessness to begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

We’d like to say a big thank you for Liz and her team for taking the time to come and visit Bridge House.

From Action Homeless:

Our Winter Appeal 2013/14 aims to raise £10,000 for Bridge House, a supported housing project that provides accommodation and support to homeless women and their children. Many of the families we work with have had to leave their homes with nothing and come to Bridge House to start the process of rebuilding their lives. Since it opened in 1997, the specialist team at Bridge House have helped hundreds of women to create more positive futures for themselves and their children. Bridge House doesn’t receive any statutory funding so we need your help to be able to ensure that the children at Bridge House get the support that they need to go on to lead happy and healthy lives.

How can you help?

By making a donation to our appeal you will be making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community.

£10 will buy a Christmas gift for a child who might otherwise not receive one.
£20 will buy a moving in pack with basics such as nappies, baby food and clothes.
£50 will help pay for a child and their mother to be housed safely and securely at our specialist project.
£100 will help a mother and child to find somewhere they can call home and move in.
£250 will help families to get the basic items they need to set up their own homes.

Visit our Virgin Money Giving page to make an online donation or send a cheque to
