Action Homeless launch new ‘Accommodation Assist’ service in Leicester

From Action Homeless:

Action Homeless have launched a new housing service ‘Accommodation Assist’ which caters for men, women, couples and families who are faced with homelessness in Leicester. Accommodation Assist is designed to help those who need a place to live whilst they seek more permanent housing.

The accommodation provided through this new service varies to include shared houses, bedsits and self-contained flats. Accommodation Assist provides a solution to people with a housing need whether they are faced with eviction, living in unsafe or unsuitable conditions or sofa surfing and aims to reduce the risk of people needing to access emergency accommodation or resorting to rough sleeping. The service is accessible to people who perhaps wouldn’t consider themselves to be homeless but are in need of accommodation.

Karen Purewal, Director of Services at Action Homeless said “We are still seeing hundreds of people who find themselves in crisis without a home every year in Leicester. Accommodation Assist is designed to provide a period of stability and security for people who may otherwise not have that.

We would urge all agencies working with those at risk of homelessness within the City to familiarise themselves with this new service so that together we can help those who are most vulnerable in Leicester”
